Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for determining methods and solutions for complex engineering challenges, selecting the most efficient and cost-effective approaches to meet project objectives. The ideal candidate will apply advanced engineering techniques, act as a technical consultant, and provide leadership in the design and implementation of wet utilities systems. You will have the opportunity to use cutting-edge software tools like CAD, GIS, and CAE, and may be required to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise major engineering units or projects requiring substantial manpower and financial investment.
- Guide engineers and design personnel, ensuring technical excellence and fostering growth in quality improvement processes.
- Provide technical consultations for interdisciplinary studies and analyses.
- Oversee CAD designers and drafters working on the same projects, contributing to CAD-related tasks and 3D modeling.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations, providing professional seals and signatures as required.
- Develop material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions, review supplier data, conduct shop tests, and assess supplier manufacturing capabilities.
- Prepare operation and maintenance plans, standard operating procedures, and O&M manuals, including onsite training for personnel.
- Conduct surveys, site investigations, and reliability analyses.
- Maintain professional affiliations to stay updated on the latest technologies.
- Independently design collection, conveyance, and disposal pressure networks and develop hydraulic models for pressure networks, using software such as Bentley WaterCAD/WaterGems, Bentley Hammer, and WANDA.
- Perform load demand calculations for large-scale private and government projects, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations.
- Design water supply systems, including treatment, pumping systems, and intake structures, in line with local authorities such as DEWA, DM, and others in the Gulf region.
- Prepare technical specifications and design reports, adhering to British, American, and local codes.
- Coordinate with service providers for NOC and design approval processes.
- Contribute to budget estimates and staffing requirements for defined project scopes.
- Assist with administrative and technical duties as needed, and prepare technical papers.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related field).
- 8-12 years of related experience in designing water/wastewater/wet utilities systems.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven leadership potential, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with industry practices and regulations, particularly in wet utilities design.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering software and the ability to apply it effectively to project tasks.
- UAE experience is preferred.
Desired Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of urban water supply and irrigation system design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Civil 3D) and other engineering software related to wet services.
- Experience with advanced software like Civil 3D, Dynamo, Python, Open Roads, Open Utilities, and GIS is preferred.
- Regional and international experience in water system design and management strategies.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Experience mentoring and training teams on pressure system design and management.
